The role goes well beyond presenting. You will help determine the questions we pursue, the people we speak with, the content we create and the editorial standards that shape Inference Society.

Inference Society is an independent media platform exploring science and frontier technology through thoughtful conversations with the people building, researching and shaping these fields.
We speak with scientists, engineers, founders, researchers and practitioners to understand what has been demonstrated, what remains uncertain and what needs to happen before emerging technologies can be relied upon in the real world.
Our first inquiry focuses on neurotechnology. Future inquiries will explore areas including artificial intelligence, biotechnology, quantum technologies, robotics, advanced materials and space.
Our aim is to create conversations that are technically credible, accessible to a wider audience and useful to people trying to understand where important technologies are actually heading.
The Role
As Founding Co-Host, you will research, prepare and lead long-form conversations across science and frontier technology.
You will work closely with the founding team across guest research, interview preparation, editorial development, content creation and the operational work required to produce consistently strong conversations.
This is a remote role with guests based around the world. Many conversations will involve researchers, founders and practitioners in the United States, Europe and other international markets. Flexibility around recording times is therefore important.
We are looking for someone who takes genuine ownership of the work around each conversation, not someone who simply arrives for the recording.
Responsibilities
- Co-host long-form conversations with scientists, engineers, founders and researchers
- Research guests, technologies and relevant scientific developments before each recording
- Develop thoughtful interview questions and clear discussion structures
- Listen closely during conversations and identify meaningful lines of follow-up
- Assess claims critically while maintaining constructive and respectful discussions
- Distinguish demonstrated evidence from assumptions, speculation and industry hype
- Identify exceptional potential guests, emerging research areas and future inquiries
- Support guest communication, preparation, scheduling and follow-up
- Maintain a clear and reliable operating rhythm across research, preparation, recording and post-recording work
- Work flexibly around international guest availability when required
- Contribute to short-form video, written posts and other content developed around each conversation
- Develop ideas that extend individual interviews into broader editorial themes and inquiries
- Work with production and creative collaborators to maintain a high standard across the show
- Contribute to the long-term development of the format, editorial standards and identity of Inference Society

Preferred Experience

- Experience within research laboratories, technology companies or startup ecosystems
- Existing networks within science and technology
Previous hosting experience and an existing audience are welcome, but neither is essential.
We would rather find someone with exceptional curiosity, judgement, discipline and potential than optimise for a conventional media background.
