Position Summary
Entry-Level Prompt Engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and hands-on programming experience. Skilled in designing, testing, and refining prompts for large language models (LLMs) and AI applications. Strong foundation in Python, software development, data analysis, and AI concepts, with the ability to translate business requirements into effective AI workflows and solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, test, and optimize prompts for generative AI and large language models.
- Evaluate AI-generated responses for accuracy, relevance, consistency, and adherence to requirements.
- Develop prompt templates, evaluation criteria, and structured workflows for AI applications.
- Use Python and other programming languages to automate testing, data processing, and AI-related tasks.
- Collaborate with software engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders to improve AI-powered features.
- Conduct experiments to compare prompting strategies and improve model performance.
- Identify hallucinations, inconsistencies, and other model limitations and recommend improvements.
- Work with APIs and AI development tools to integrate LLM capabilities into applications.
- Document prompts, testing results, methodologies, and best practices.
- Stay current with developments in generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, and AI development frameworks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 1-4 years of professional experience; internships, academic projects, and personal AI projects are valuable.
- Programming experience in Python, JavaScript, Java, or a similar language.
- Understanding of software development fundamentals, APIs, data structures, and algorithms.
- Familiarity with generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, and AI-assisted development.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to experiment systematically and analyze AI model outputs.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or other LLM APIs.
- Familiarity with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar AI frameworks.
- Basic understanding of machine learning and natural language processing.
- Experience with Git/GitHub, JSON, REST APIs, and cloud platforms.
- Experience building AI or chatbot projects as part of coursework, internships, or personal projects.
