We are seeking an experienced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT/NDE) Technician to join a growing quality team at a large, highly specialized manufacturing facility in Marshalltown, IA.
Description
This is a hands-on production NDT role supporting the manufacture of large, custom-engineered equipment. The position will primarily focus on radiographic testing (RT/X-ray) and visual inspection (VT) of fabrication welds. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with backgrounds in manufacturing, welding/fabrication, pipeline inspection, field NDE, or shipyard environments.
Responsibilities
- Perform radiographic (RT/X-ray) and visual (VT) inspections primarily on fabrication welds and in-process manufactured components
- Perform or provide support for magnetic particle (MT), liquid penetrant (PT), and other NDE methods as needed
- Evaluate welds and manufactured components for compliance with established quality requirements, codes, and specifications
- Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities involving nonconforming materials and help determine appropriate NDE requirements for repairs
- Work closely with manufacturing, quality, engineering, and other departments to resolve inspection and quality issues
- Maintain accurate NDE documentation, inspection records, and compliance requirements
- Support the safe and efficient operation of NDE equipment and inspection areas
- Assist with internal quality/process audits and continuous improvement activities
- Gain exposure to additional inspection technologies and programs, including Positive Material Identification (PMI/XRF)
Qualifications
- Associate degree, NDT certificate/diploma, technical training, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Hands-on experience with one or more NDE methods, including RT, VT, MT, PT, or UT
- Experience inspecting welds or fabricated components
- Manufacturing, field NDE, pipeline, fabrication, or shipyard experience
- Knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards such as ASME, ASNT, AWS, ANSI, or ISO
- ASNT Level II/III, CWI, AWS, or other NDE/welding qualifications are a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document inspection results
