We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our Quality Engineering team and help drive automation excellence across modern, AI-powered applications. This is a hands-on role focused on designing, developing, and executing automated testing solutions while contributing to a custom in-house automation framework used across Agile delivery teams.
The successful candidate will have strong Java and automation testing experience, thrive in a fast-paced Agile environment, and be passionate about embedding quality directly into the development lifecycle. While experience testing AI or GenAI solutions is an asset, candidates do not need to be experts. A strong willingness to learn emerging AI technologies and leverage tools such as Microsoft Copilot for code generation, user story creation, and automated test case development is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute automated tests across unit, integration, API, and end-to-end testing layers.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the organization's custom automation framework.
- Drive in-sprint automation activities, ensuring quality is built into the software development lifecycle.
- Partner closely with developers, product owners, and stakeholders in an Agile environment to define testing strategies and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Create and maintain automated test suites using tools and frameworks such as Selenium, TestNG, Cucumber, Robot Framework, and other modern testing technologies.
- Develop test plans, test data strategies, and automation approaches to improve test coverage while reducing manual effort.
- Analyze requirements, system behaviors, and data flows to identify testing scenarios, risks, and boundary conditions.
- Manage test execution, defect tracking, reporting, and root cause analysis throughout the testing lifecycle.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous quality validation.
- Utilize AI-powered tools such as Copilot to accelerate code development, user story refinement, and test case generation.
- Mentor junior SDETs and provide guidance on automation best practices, code reviews, and testing methodologies.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of Quality Engineering and Software Testing experience within enterprise environments.
- 3+ years of hands-on automation testing experience with a strong focus on building and executing automated test solutions.
- Strong programming experience in Java with the ability to develop, maintain, and enhance automation frameworks.
- Experience working within Agile delivery teams and supporting in-sprint automation initiatives.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, TestNG, Cucumber, Robot Framework, SOAPUI, or similar technologies.
- Experience testing APIs, web applications, distributed systems, databases, and cloud-based applications.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD practices and DevOps tooling, including Git, GitHub Actions, JIRA, ALM, and qTest.
- Experience with SQL and database validation.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable learning and adopting AI/GenAI technologies, prompt engineering concepts, and AI-assisted development tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing AI-powered, LLM-based, or agentic applications.
- Exposure to prompt engineering and AI-driven quality assurance practices.
- Experience with service virtualization tools such as WireMock or RIT.
- Knowledge of MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and other non-relational databases.
- Contact Centre technology experience.
- Experience leveraging Microsoft Copilot or similar AI tools to improve development and testing productivity.
