Role Description:

This is a full-time remote Faculty position in Generative AI and Emerging Technology at Western State University. The faculty member will design, prepare, and deliver engaging online courses exploring Generative Artificial Intelligence, emerging technologies, and their applications across business, education, organizations, society, and other professional domains. The role involves integrating theoretical foundations with practical applications to help students understand, evaluate, and responsibly apply rapidly evolving AI technologies.

Day-to-day responsibilities include developing course syllabi, lectures, learning materials, case studies, activities, and assessments; conducting virtual lectures, seminars, workshops, and interactive learning sessions; assessing student performance and providing timely, constructive feedback; and providing academic advising and mentorship. The faculty member will also contribute to curriculum development, program enhancement, interdisciplinary initiatives, and the integration of emerging AI tools and technologies into teaching and learning. Where appropriate, the role may include research, publications, industry engagement, and scholarly activities related to Generative AI, emerging technologies, education, and their broader societal and organizational implications.

Qualifications:

- Strong foundation in Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, Emerging Technologies, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.

- Specialized knowledge of Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Prompt Engineering, AI applications, and emerging technology trends.

- Familiarity with areas such as AI agents, multimodal AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), natural language processing, AI automation, or responsible AI is highly desirable.

- Demonstrated experience in university teaching, preferably in online or hybrid learning environments.

- Advanced degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline (Ph.D. preferred; master’s degree required).

- Ability to design engaging and industry-relevant course materials, practical activities, case studies, and assessments.

- Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital tools to facilitate effective remote teaching and student engagement.

- Ability to critically evaluate emerging AI technologies and communicate their opportunities, limitations, ethical considerations, and real-world applications.

- Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and academic writing skills.

- Commitment to responsible, ethical, inclusive, and human-centered approaches to AI and technology.

- Evidence of scholarly activity, research, publications, professional certifications, or industry experience in AI and emerging technologies is highly desirable.

- Strong organizational skills, reliability in meeting deadlines, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse global academic community.

- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with the rapidly evolving Generative AI and emerging technology landscape.
