The Company
This quantitative firm is building out its alternative data capability, with a focus on signal research across APAC markets. The team sits within a broader systematic research function, spanning both quantamental and pure systematic approaches. Alpha research and alternative data research are the team's core focus, with close collaboration across the wider research and monetisation functions.
The Role
- Conduct alpha research within a systematic equity framework, with a particular emphasis on APAC sector-level signals and company-specific forecasting
- Source, organise, and analyse structured and unstructured datasets to track companies, industries, and products beyond traditional financial statement analysis
- Research, implement, and backtest signals drawing on alternative, fundamental, and positioning data sources relevant to the region
- Translate alternative and fundamental data into signals that feed systematic strategies
- Design bespoke KPI frameworks and data-driven tools to support the broader research process
- Apply modern ML techniques and agentic AI workflows to sharpen research productivity and model robustness
- Partner with monetisation teams across the full research lifecycle
Your Profile
- Degree in a quantitative field: Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Economics
- Experience in a quantitative research, data science, or analytical role, ideally with exposure to Asian markets
- Proficient in Python, with practical experience handling alternative and positioning datasets
- Exposure to LLMs or applied ML in a research or analytical setting
- Background in either quantamental or pure systematic research, ideally with exposure to both
- Comfortable operating alongside fundamentally-minded researchers, with an awareness of how alternative data supports fundamental as well as systematic processes
- Naturally curious, with an interest in identifying new data sets and research angles specific to APAC
