Role: Engineering Manager
Location: San Francisco – Tues/Wed/Thur In Office, Mon/Fri – Work From Home
Compensation: $300,000+ base, depending on years of experience
Harrison Clarke are partnered with a high-growth AI company operating at the intersection of enterprise technology and intelligent automation. This innovative organisation is building a platform that helps large enterprises understand, optimise, and transform their core business systems dramatically compressing timelines for research, design, and implementation from months down to days through AI-driven workflows.
They are now searching for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and scale high-performing teams building the platform that powers these capabilities.
Role Requirements:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend and full-stack engineers, fostering a high-performance and collaborative engineering culture.
- Partner closely with product managers, ML engineers, and design teams to define technical strategy and deliver impactful product outcomes.
- Drive the design and development of scalable backend systems, APIs, and services supporting complex enterprise workflows and AI agent orchestration.
- Own delivery execution—ensuring projects are delivered on time, with high quality, and aligned to business goals.
- Establish and uphold best practices across system design, security, reliability, and performance at scale.
- Contribute to architectural decisions while remaining close enough to the code to guide technical direction when needed.
- Hire and retain top engineering talent, building a team capable of operating at scale in a fast-paced environment.
Profile Signals:
- Technical background: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in an engineering leadership or management role.
- Strong technical foundation in backend systems, with experience in Python or Node.js, RESTful APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
- Proven track record of leading teams that have built and shipped scalable, production-grade systems or platform services.
- Experience working in enterprise or B2B environments where security, reliability, and integration complexity are critical.
- Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on technical leadership with people management and delivery ownership.
- Passion for building high-quality teams and systems that unlock meaningful productivity gains.
