Position Summary
The Senior Technical Learning Experience Designer (LXD) is a full-stack, hands-on learning developer and product architect within the Online Training Team. This role is responsible for the complete end-to-end lifecycle—from front-end performance analysis and learner persona creation to advanced, hands-on eLearning development and portfolio maintenance—for high-complexity software, SaaS, and technical hardware products.
Note on Role Scope: This is an active authoring and technical execution role, not a storyboard-writing or vendor-management position. The ideal candidate independently owns learning products from initial strategy and technical UI analysis to final custom Storyline 360 build and publish. Success requires deep practical application of adult learning principles, advanced technical mastery of Articulate Storyline 360 (variables, triggers, states), and comfort leveraging emerging Generative AI workflows to accelerate production.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Ownership & ID Theory Application: Independently conduct needs analyses, build target learner personas, map task workflows, and define measurable, performance-based learning objectives using proven adult learning frameworks (ADDIE/SAM).
- Advanced eLearning Authoring: Directly author interactive, visually compelling online training modules, software walkthroughs, and complex simulations in Articulate Storyline 360 and Rise 360 without relying on external developers.
- UI & User Workflow Translation: Analyze complex software UI changes, hardware updates, API release notes, and architecture diagrams to evaluate their exact impact on user workflows and update learning materials rapidly.
- Product Portfolio Management: Manage, prioritize, and track the ongoing accuracy of training assets across a dynamic product portfolio, ensuring on-time delivery aligned with rapid product release cycles and software roadmaps.
- Global Stakeholder & SME Collaboration: Lead cross-functional alignment with Product Managers, Engineers, and Technical SMEs across global time zones using strong project management and communication skills.
- Multimedia Production: Produce supporting visual and audio assets—including screencasts, technical video demos, and vector graphics—using Camtasia and Adobe Creative Suite.
- AI Tool Integration: Actively integrate Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney) into daily workflows to accelerate technical scripting, scenario generation, media creation, and content optimization.
- Performance Analytics & Continuous Improvement: Evaluate post-launch learner analytics, assessment data, and user feedback to continuously optimize user experience and technical training efficacy.
Basic Qualifications & Requirements
- Hands-on Experience: 5+ years of professional experience as a Technical Instructional Designer, LXD, or eLearning Developer owning the complete end-to-end design and build process.
- Mandatory Portfolio Gate: A live, online portfolio must be submitted with your application. Portfolio must showcase interactive technical training, custom Articulate Storyline builds (demonstrating interactive logic/variables), task-based software simulations, and clear design documents (needs analysis, learner personas, or design strategy).
- Advanced Storyline Mastery: Advanced, hands-on technical proficiency in Articulate Storyline 360 and Rise 360, with a proven track record of writing custom triggers, variables, conditions, and state changes from scratch.
- Technical Domain Experience: Proven track record designing and developing software, SaaS, telecommunications, hardware, or enterprise technology training.
- Instructional Design Mastery: Clear ability to articulate design decisions, needs analysis frameworks, and learner persona mapping during technical interviews.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Computer Science, Communications, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven ability to translate complex software release notes and UI updates into intuitive, scenario-based learning products.
- Active experience using Generative AI tools (prompt engineering, rapid prototyping, media generation) within production workflows.
- Strong screencast and video production skills using Camtasia, Premiere Pro, or Audition.
- Experience coordinating projects across cross-functional, global teams and managing multi-product training roadmaps.
