Purpose of the position

Leads commercial helium business activities for Linde’s Asia Pacific (APAC) operating segment supporting product management, sales, business development, and pricing initiatives. Responsible for integrating the global helium strategy with the APAC regional business unit (RBU) strategies while driving short- and long-term profitable growth for the helium business. Requires close cooperation and coordination with global helium operations, product management and logistics function while collaborating with the RBU business management, supply chain and helium operations teams.

Principal responsibilities

The Helium Business Director – Asia Pacific (APAC) is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Manages the APAC helium business working across bulk and packaged channels and across RBUs to meet / exceed regional and global business targets.

Drives P&L performance by delivering profitable helium growth throughout the APAC operating segment and associated RBUs

Member of global helium leadership team (set and ensure alignment with strategic agenda and day-to-day tactics across sourcing, product management, logistics and engineering, market development)

Partners with members of APAC RBU marketing and product management leadership teams.

Aligns global & local strategy intent, goals & supporting actions

Develops and monitors RBU and operating segment level sales, pricing, and profitability KPIs.

Supports RBU helium sales and business development activities

Supports the global and RBU budgeting and forecasting process with input on sales volumes, pricing and costs.

Partners with global helium product management and supply chain teams to support and optimize regional supply/demand planning.

Defines & implement regional helium pricing, surcharge, and product allocations.

Ensures and coordinate effective rollout of global programs in the APAC region (commercial, engineering, and operational)

Supports RBU Operations teams with helium Cryofill business and operations management including fill incident technical investigations.

Supports RBU operations team with optimization of helium trans fill operation, including identifying productivity initiatives and guiding on BOP and loss/leak prevention.

Monitor, analyze and evaluate regional helium market trends and competitive activity to develop and adjust strategies and metrics accordingly to drive profitability for helium

Establish guidelines for helium pricing and contracting (terms and conditions)

Contributes to business unit productivity goals by identifying and driving helium related productivity initiatives within APAC.

Manage large data sets for financial analysis and must demonstrate the pro-active desire/ability to bring process improvement to the role.

Required key skills (professional/technical)

10+ years helium or industrial gas business development/sales/account management experience, preferably on a regional and/or global level.

Understanding of helium market segments and thorough understanding of the use and application of helium semiconductor, optical fiber, MRI, Lifting and other market segments preferred.

Demonstrated experience supporting regional or global business strategy, financial planning, commercial decision-making, pricing, profitability, investment evaluation, or business development.

Ability to translate financial, operational, and market information into commercial recommendations and executable business plans.

Strong strategic thinking and execution skills

Strong analytical and quantitative skills

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Advanced computer skills in MS Office suite, (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Strong attention to detail, project management skills and ability to follow-through

Required qualifications/experiences

Bachelor’s Degree (engineering/technical/business/finance/accounting), MBA preferred

10+ years helium and/or industrial gas business experience

Travel Percentage

20-40%
