We're seeking a capable and hands-on Facilities Maintenance Officer to join our Facilities Maintenance Social Enterprise team. This permanent, full-time position, based at our Telarah office, will provide maintenance services to all Mai-Wel sites across the Hunter Region, NSW.
Playing a key role in maintaining and protecting Mai-Wel’s property and infrastructure assets, this role is ideal for someone with experience in a facilities maintenance environment who enjoys organising work, solving problems, supporting others and ensuring facilities are maintained to a high standard.
About the Role
As a Facilities Maintenance Officer, you will oversee preventative maintenance programs, coordinate repairs, liaise with contractors, and provide guidance, training and supervision to members of the facilities maintenance crew.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and delivering internal Preventative Maintenance schedules
- Coordinating site and asset inspections
- Actioning work orders and repairs to minimise downtime
Liaising with licensed Vendors & Contractors to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently
Identifying assets requiring repair, maintenance or replacement
Monitoring safety, security and property protection issues
Supervising, mentoring and training maintenance team members, contributing to capacity building and skills development within the team
Supporting maintenance operations across multiple sites where required.

Essential Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Demonstrated experience in facilities management, trades management or similar
Experience planning, coordinating and delivering maintenance programs while effectively managing competing priorities
Demonstrated ability to deliver maintenance services in line with required standards, compliance requirements and organisational procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds and abilities, while also working independently and contributing positively to a team environment
Demonstrated strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and empower others
Experience engaging and coordinating trade qualified contractors and external service providers, to ensure quality workmanship and value-for-money outcomes
Experience using smartphones, computers and cloud-based maintenance or work order management systems
Current First Aid Certificate
Current Driver Licence.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
The following will be highly regarded:
Certificate IV, Diploma or Trade Qualification in a relevant discipline (ie Plumber, Carpenter, Electrician)
Experience across multi-site operations and asset management
Experience working or volunteering with vulnerable people.
