We are looking for a (Senior) Computer Vision Engineer (f/m/d) to join our team in Freiburg . As part of an interdisciplinary and innovation-driven environment, you will work on cutting-edge technologies such as machine learning-based instrument tracking, camera calibration, 3D visualization, image-guided surgery, and real-time navigation systems. In this role, you will make a direct impact on the development of next-generation medical products used in operating rooms worldwide.

Duties And Responsibilities

- You design and develop software for a digital surgery platform encompassing computer vision, artificial intelligence, medical imaging, and surgical navigation

- Your tasks span from developing early-stage prototypes to creating production-ready medical device software

- You contribute to computer vision pipelines including camera calibration, 3D reconstruction, image registration, object and instrument tracking, and machine learning-based perception

- You create robust, maintainable, and scalable software solutions by translating research concepts into high-quality products

- You ensure high software quality by applying unit and integration test methodologies, performing code reviews, and supporting continuous integration practices

- You work in a scrum team collaborating with software developers, software architects, system engineers, AI researchers, UX engineers, quality engineers, and product owners

- You contribute to technical design decisions, software architecture, and technology evaluations

- You support verification, validation, and documentation activities in compliance with medical software standards and regulations

Professional competencies

- M.Sc. or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Robotics, Medical Imaging or a related field

- Several years of industrial or research experience developing computer vision or machine learning applications

- Strong software engineering skills and experience delivering high-quality production code

- Experience developing complex software systems in C++ and/or Python

- Quickly embracing new technologies and different programming languages

- Technologies and topics we currently work with include OpenCV, VTK, PCL, PyTorch, ROS2, Git, Azure DevOps, Linux, computer vision, machine learning, camera calibration, and 3D geometry

- Experience with software design patterns, CI/CD, DevOps practices, and automated testing

- Experience with computer vision topics such as pose estimation, tracking, SLAM, image registration, or multi-view vision
