Job Summary :
To support daily empty equipment and logistics operations, including container stock management, depot and terminal coordination, equipment redelivery, on-hire, off-hire and transportation requirements. The role ensures accurate equipment availability, timely execution of operational activities and effective coordination with internal and external stakeholders, including support for East Malaysia and Brunei where required.
Job Responsibilities :
- Support daily monitoring and reporting of MTY container stock across assigned depots and locations.
- Assist with stock balancing, positioning and follow-up of idle or excess equipment and minimize unnecessary idle time and costs.
- Maintain accurate equipment status and movement records.
- Coordinate with depots and terminals on empty nominations, releases, returns and acceptance requirements.
- Follow up on operational exceptions and ensure timely resolution or escalation.
- Support one-way redelivery, direct MTY returns and equipment positioning activities.
- Coordinate on-hire & off-hire processes with relevant depots, lessors and internal stakeholders.
- Prepare and issue Transport Orders (TOs) for assigned equipment movements and close monitoring with the transportation completion process.
- Support urgent and exceptional transport requirements when operationally necessary.
- Support customs clearance and documentation requirements inclusive approvals and supporting documents for empty equipment movements, where applicable.
- Support special equipment positioning, fulfilment and exceptional movement requirements received from ARO / HO Logistics for timely execution.
- Maintain accurate and timely updates in relevant systems.
- Support resolution of EDI, GBSI and other equipment-related system exceptions.
- Prepare operational reports and information as required.
- Monitor seal inventory and coordinate supply requirements.
- Maintain relevant seal records and documentation.
- Respond to operational requests and enquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate with Operations, Customer Service, depots, terminals, hauliers and other relevant parties on assigned matters.
- Escalate critical or unresolved operational issues to the Logistics Manager.
- Provide operational support for urgent matters to maintain business continuity.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Job Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related discipline
- Preferably 2–3 years of relevant experience in logistics, shipping, container liner operations or equipment management
- Experience in empty container management, depot operations, terminal coordination or transport operations within the container shipping industry will be an added advantage
- Candidates without the relevant academic qualifications but with strong and proven relevant industry experience may also be considered
- Good understanding of container equipment flows, depot operations, empty returns, redelivery and transport coordination is preferred
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify operational issues and follow through to resolution.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision while also functioning effectively as part of a team
- Strong coordination and stakeholder-management skills with a customer-service mindset
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced and highly dynamic operational environment
- Good sense of urgency and ability to prioritise multiple operational requirements
- Pleasant personality, proactive approach and professional work attitude
- Willingness to travel when required and preferably possesses own transportation
