Schedule: Monday–Friday with occasional overtime/on-call opportunities
About the Position
Firsthand Heating & Air Conditioning is looking for an experienced, dependable HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team in Palm Beach County.
We are looking for more than someone who can change filters and perform basic maintenance. We need a technician who is comfortable running service calls independently, diagnosing HVAC systems accurately, communicating professionally with customers, and presenting repair and replacement options when appropriate.
This is an opportunity to get in early with a growing company and become an important part of the team as we expand throughout Palm Beach County.
Responsibilities
As an HVAC Service Technician, you will:
- Diagnose and repair residential HVAC systems
- Perform preventative maintenance and system tune-ups
- Troubleshoot electrical, refrigerant and airflow issues
- Diagnose compressors, capacitors, contactors, motors, coils, thermostats and other HVAC components
- Clear and repair condensate drain systems
- Perform refrigerant diagnostics and charging when necessary
- Identify systems that may require major repairs or replacement
- Clearly explain findings and repair options to homeowners
- Provide accurate recommendations without high-pressure sales tactics
- Complete detailed service notes and job documentation
- Take before-and-after photos when appropriate
- Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle
- Maintain company tools and equipment
- Collect customer payments and properly close out service calls
- Maintain a professional appearance and provide excellent customer service
- Follow all company procedures and safety standards
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate has:
- 3+ years of residential HVAC service experience preferred
- Strong HVAC diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to independently run residential service calls
- EPA Section 608 certification
- Commercial experience is a big plus
- Valid Florida driver's license and clean driving record
- Strong customer-service and communication skills
- Ability to explain technical problems in simple terms
- Professional appearance and attitude
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to work in attics and outdoors in South Florida conditions
- Ability to lift and move HVAC equipment and materials as required
- Basic smartphone/tablet skills for job documentation
Experience with residential split systems, heat pumps, package units, mini-splits and common Florida HVAC systems is strongly preferred.
Compensation
$28–$33/hour based on experience
