About the Role
We are looking for an experienced CAD / 3D Revit Designer to join our design team and support an exciting infrastructure project involving fibre-optic duct networks and associated underground infrastructure.
This is a hands-on design and modelling role for someone who enjoys turning survey information, drawings and site data into accurate, high-quality 2D drawings and 3D Revit models.
You will be responsible for modelling existing fibre infrastructure, including duct routes, manholes, chambers and draw pits, and producing drawings and models that can be used for future design, construction and asset management.
The successful candidate does not need to be a BIM specialist. We are looking for a technically capable CAD/Revit designer who is confident producing accurate models and drawings and can work within an established Revit template and project standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate 3D Revit models from survey information and existing drawings.
- Produce and update 2D AutoCAD drawings.
- Model existing underground fibre infrastructure, including:
- Fibre duct routes
- Manholes and chambers
- Draw pits
- Duct entries and exits
- Connections between chambers and ducts
- Associated fibre infrastructure
- Interpret survey information and accurately transfer dimensions, locations, depths and orientations into drawings and models.
- Ensure models are accurately positioned and coordinated using project coordinates.
- Add relevant asset information and parameters to Revit elements.
- Review survey information and identify discrepancies or missing information.
- Update drawings and models where site conditions differ from existing information.
- Work closely with surveyors, engineers and project team members to ensure the design information is accurate.
- Produce clear, well-presented technical drawings suitable for design development and construction.
- Maintain good drawing and model standards throughout the project.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Good professional experience using Autodesk Revit for 3D modelling.
- Strong AutoCAD skills.
- Experience producing technical drawings from survey or engineering information.
- Ability to interpret drawings, survey information and dimensions accurately.
- Good understanding of 3D modelling principles.
- Ability to work with coordinates, levels and spatial information.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Fibre-optic or telecommunications infrastructure.
- Underground utilities or duct networks.
- Civil engineering infrastructure.
- Manholes, chambers or draw pits.
- Survey-to-Revit modelling.
- Point-cloud or laser-scan information.
- Infrastructure or building-services modelling.
- Working with existing-condition models.
BIM experience is desirable but not essential. Full BIM management or coordination experience is not required for this position.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a practical, technically minded designer who takes pride in producing accurate and high-quality drawings and 3D models.
You should be comfortable taking information from a survey and working out how that information needs to be represented in CAD and Revit.
You will have a strong eye for detail, a methodical approach to modelling and the ability to recognise when information does not look right.
If you are an experienced CAD Designer, Revit Designer, 3D CAD Technician or Engineering Designer looking to work on an interesting infrastructure project, we would like to hear from you.
