Stellar's Jay Assistant Store Manager
Position Summary
Steller’s Jay Gifts is seeking a dependable, personable, and organized leader to manage our curated gift shop in the Redding Public Market. The Assistant Store Manager will assist with oversite of daily operations, ensure a welcoming environment, and lead the team in providing exceptional service and thoughtful gifting experiences.
Key Managerial Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Training
- Assist with onboarding and training new employees on store procedures, product knowledge, and the Steller’s Jay/Front Door Hospitality standard of service.
- Assist with developing and managing the weekly staff schedule in 7Shifts, ensuring all shifts are adequately covered to meet business needs.
- Mentor staff in gift-giving techniques, such as offering thoughtful suggestions and performing neat, attractive gift wrapping.
- Encourage customer loyalty by modeling positive interactions and product education for the team to follow.
- Other duties as assigned
Assist with Inventory & Operations Management
- Regular inventory reconciliation to ensure stock accuracy and minimize discrepancies
- Oversee the Shopify POS system, managing accurate sales ringing, returns, and troubleshooting retail technology.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, coordinating the receiving, tagging, and labeling of new merchandise.
- Maintain visual standards by ensuring the sales floor is fully stocked, attractively merchandised, and cleaned regularly. Work with merchandiser to ensure her vision is maintained in the store layout
- Execute opening and closing procedures independently while ensuring all staff follow established company protocols.
- Balance Cash drawer on a daily basis and make weekly bank drops.
- Other duties as assigned
Customer Excellence
- Greet and assist customers with warmth, helping them select the perfect artisan products.
- Resolve customer concerns with professional interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Required: Previous retail management or supervisory experience.
- Skills: Strong math skills for inventory reconciliation and comfort with retail technology like POS systems and barcode scanners.
- Leadership: Proven ability to work independently, handle high levels of responsibility, and lead a team.
- Physical: Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
- Flexibility: Availability to work weekends, evenings, or during special market events.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 – 30.0 per week
