Where are the AI jobs? Every city in this index, ranked

Search for AI jobs in San Francisco or AI jobs in New York and you get one city at a time. This post puts every city on AI Jobs Map into one ranked table: 46 cities in the United States and abroad, each with the number of AI roles posted in the last 30 days that were still open on September 17, 2026. The ranking is not what most people expect, and the section after the table explains why.

How a city is counted matters. United States cities are counted by metro area, using the metro code attached to each posting, so “San Jose” covers the rest of Silicon Valley and “New York” covers the commuter belt. Cities outside the United States are counted by the city named in the posting. Remote roles usually carry no city and are not in any of these figures. A posting that lists several cities counts in each of them.

Every city in this index, ranked by open AI roles

London was the largest city page on September 17, 2026 with 1,361 roles. That is more than any United States metro: the largest, San Jose, had 925. London, Bengaluru and Singapore all ranked above San Francisco (656).

AI jobs in the United States

Within the United States the order on September 17, 2026 was San Jose (925), New York (731), San Francisco (656), Seattle (568), Washington DC (290), Dallas (289), Boston (215), Chicago (173), Atlanta (150) and Austin (138). The two Bay Area metros are counted separately, as above; San Jose is the one that includes Palo Alto, Mountain View and Sunnyvale, which is why it often outranks San Francisco itself.

The cities people search for most are all on the table. AI jobs in New York numbered 731, Seattle 568, Boston 215, Chicago 173 and Austin 138. Washington DC and Dallas are larger than several of those and searched for less, which makes them better odds for an applicant.

Each city page also links to the same city cut by role, so machine learning engineer jobs in New York or data scientist jobs in Seattle are one click from the city hub, wherever that combination has at least eight roles.

AI jobs in the UK, Canada and the rest of the world

London is the only United Kingdom city measured, so its 1,361 roles are a London figure, not a figure for AI jobs in the UK; Manchester, Cambridge and Edinburgh roles are in the index but have no page yet. The same applies to every country here: this site has city pages and no country pages, and a country total would be larger than its largest city.

For AI jobs in Canada, Toronto had 477 roles and Vancouver 112. In Europe, Paris (397), Berlin (316), Munich (251) and Amsterdam (192) lead. In Asia, Singapore (993), Bengaluru (1,237) and Hyderabad (398) are the large pages, with Tokyo and Sydney behind them.

One caution on single-source cities. In this index, Hyderabad’s AI volume comes overwhelmingly from one job board: about nine in ten of its AI-titled postings in the last 30 days were collected from LinkedIn. Other cities mix more sources, including employer career sites and applicant tracking systems. A city whose count rests on one board is that board’s view of the market, and its rank moves with that board’s volume; treat it as such.

Cities that do not have a page

A city page is published only when it has at least eight roles, because a page with three listings is a poor result for you and a thin page for a search engine. On September 17, 2026 every city on the site was above that line. Cities not in the catalog at all are reachable through free-text search, which accepts a city name, and through AI jobs near me, which reads your location.

Every figure here is measured over roles posted in the last 30 days and still open on September 17, 2026. The city pages are rebuilt daily and their numbers will have moved; when the two disagree, the page is the newer one.
